Elena Butina
MD, PhD, Dr. Sci. (Medicine)
Research scientist
She is the head of an immunohematology laboratory, a practicing physician, and a consultant for Johnson & Johnson and Bio-Rad Laboratories.
Elena holds an MD and a PhD in hematology and transfusion medicine. She was awarded the Russian higher doctorate, Dr. Sci (Medicine)—a post-PhD qualification conferred in recognition of distinguished scientific achievements.
Her research spans immunohematology, transfusion medicine, genetics, population studies, and hematology, with a focus on preventing hemolytic transfusion reactions, minimizing alloimmunization, and enhancing the efficacy of platelet transfusions.
